Practice Degree Show - 12th March 2020 @ The Capital Building

My practice degree show piece was the most liberating installation I’ve ever done. Acting in a purely selfish way, I filled the space with what brought me joy. I created a room for my audience to experience my work, as close as I could get to bringing my studio space to them. Once they were inside the vastness of colour, they would experience something personal, from me to them. I did not install vast, tall and looming paintings to look down onto my audience who may have felt they needed to be educated to appreciate them. I’ve invited them into my personal environment in the hope that through my colours and textures they feel the joy that I do. I made a place where there would be no judgement whether you understood or liked the pieces or not, you were worthy of looking at the pieces because you were there.
